It's been a quiet day, the flu has been ravaging the school lately and a lot of kids haven't been in, a lot of the ones who have been have been ill - many of them sent home rather than spread it to others. Others getting sick through the day. Fortunately for you, you don't seem to have caught it.
You run your hand along the lockers down the hallway, clang-clang-clang and step out into the dimming light of the evening. There'll be nobody home - not that your parents are working right now - but you're expected to go back. You could go out with your mates and get something to eat, get up to a little fun. As you stand there pondering, your mate Gareth smacks you on the back of the head as he darts past you, laughing and as you draw your head up again, frowning, you spot a couple of kids from the lower year in a scrum, with kids shouting 'Fight! Fight! Fight!' around them.
| Worthless Little Scrote Name: Wayne Corran Profession: Uneducatable Hoodie Blood Type: A- Education: Secondary School Background: You've never really seen much point in school, it's just a place to meet up with your mates before plotting some havoc and fun for the evening. The only class you ever liked was art, but the teachers didn't appreciate your grafitti and b-boy style of art so even that got soured. You can't wait to get out of the place, though you've no real idea how you're going to get on once you're out of school, maybe dealing weed or something or custom painting cars. I can't give you a full and shiny report on Indiecon because I've written up a full-on report for Polymancer magazine and it'd be bad form to say too much about it here in a professional reporting capacity - and the same's likely to get in the way for Dragonmeet! Still I can talk about what I did and my experiences there as Postmortem.
Last year the weather was pretty rough but this year we were right there as some of the worst weather for many years struck England with flooding and gales and all sorts of warnings and threats of doom. It was pretty rough, but also - in a pervere way - a lot of fun.
We were at the con for the full span and with the cost split between all of us Indiecon represents a fantastic deal, Thursday night to Monday morning in an excellent chalet - that's actually warm, snug and clean - for what came to around £50 a head for six of us. Unlike a lot of cons the accomodation is excellent and you can actually get a decent night's sleep.
On the plus side Indiecon is great for running demo games and getting a good buzz for your games. People are game to try just about anything and I was very, very pleased to see two of my games from the previous year being played independently by people, Invaderz and Blood!. We ran another demo game of Blood! that went pretty well, but only ran it once this time, we also ran two playtest sessions of Agents of SWING and the feedback was invaluable, as was the fun I had in the couple of instances that I did get to play. It's unfortunate that I was - and usually am - stuck minding the stall and so can't run more demos or get involved in more games, something I'll have to work on correcting for 2010 because, oh yeah, we're going again.
On the downside - and this was the problem last year as well - it's not a very good, yet, from a commercial point of view. Both years I've barely broken even on sales and while there was higher attendence this year I think the combination of the economy and the weather drove off what was, essentially, my profit margin in both people's reticence to buy and the walk-through attendence that could have been there. Hopefully we'll be lifted out of that a bit by next year.
The organisation was much better this year and I think an event of this nature can only continue to grow and grow and deserves to, a great showcase for UK games development in general and UK indie games in general.

The End is set in the immediate aftermath of a zombie rising. The characters are a mismatched band of survivors, trapped in a fortified house on a housing estate in rural England. This is a small market town, not a metropolis and not somewhere where it might be easy to tool up with weapons and take on the zombie hordes.
With food and water running out the radio finally crackles into life, an army signal, looking for survivors but camped out at the church, the church on the other side of town...
Written for Blood! but comes bundled with Freakshow: Zombies to make conversion to modern OGL or the RuneQuest OGL easier.
If you buy before the end of the month it's half price as part of Schlocktoberfest!

- Started reading through STARBLAZER ADVENTURES (my preferred implementation of FATE) with an eye to simplifying things a little, slimming it down and using it as the rules for Agents of S.W.I.N.G. (The 60s - 70s mash-up action game).
- Uploaded more Clipart Critters which will be coming out over the rest of the month. If you want to get some very good, and very chea, art to support your games or for your gaming projects, be sure and check it out HERE.
- Half finished writing up the zombie apocalypse demo scenario for Blood! which I wrote for Indiecon last year.
- Proofread the next installment in The Life of Angst, Chav: The Knifing, and commissioned the art.

Two new Freakshow products for you today with stats for Blood!, Mongoose RuneQuest (BloodQuest) and d20 Modern, which hasn't been replaced - yet!

I'm just here to give you a heads up on what the plans are for Postmortem Studios in this forthcoming 2009.
- Redesign: Expect this blog/site to get a facelift and redesign in the early part of this year, something a bit more slick and professional and I think I'll be retiring the old Postmortem Studios logo for something a bit more 'chic'.
- Cthentacle: This is my first priority this year, to get Cthentacle out of the door. I have, somewhat controversially, decided to go with the simplified, faster, Vs rules for this iteration of the game.
- All These Worlds: Mongoose's Traveller is going a storm and there's really no point me reinventing the wheel, so this is being revised for a second time and will become a series of expansions and materials for Traveller, most likely released - somewhat - via Mongoose's Flaming Cobra line.
- 100 Series: 100 Conspiracies and 100 Conspirators, 100 Supervillain Plots and 100 Supervillain Lairs will be the next few 100 Series books. I'm also cooking up a similar concept for players, something akin to the old Central Casting 'lifepath' books.
- Neverwhere: When I get time the third edition of this free RPG will be made available. This will also have more 'proper' rules for those who like such things.
- D&D4: I hope to be writing for Axe Initiative and I also hope to be releasing a complete adventure line, piecemeal, for D&D 4th Edition, a 'super campaign' that takes character from starting out to maximum level while also spinning out a complete game world. I also hope to begin work on my world-city setting.
- Gumshoe: Expect a Gumshoe version of @ctiv8 at some point during the year.
- Blood!: If there's time I hope to get Hell on Earth out of the door this year. That's the Renaissance/Enlightenment/Witch Burning era version of Blood!
- Fiction: I WILL complete a book of short-mid length stories this year and self publish, this is my promise to myself.
- Fanbooks: I hope to complete a Fallout fanbook for the Xpress system, again, depending on time.
- Getting Paid: Fingers crossed I get paid for work I've done over the last 2-3 years that I haven't yet been paid for :P
- Other: Agents of Swing (Xpress) and Unnamed Barbarian Fantasy Game (Xpress), The Pretentious Game.
- Someone with knowledge of d20 Modern, RuneQuest and my game, Blood!, willing to do some system conversions/creations for all three systems at about ten dollars a shot.
- A map-maker, preferably using the newer versions of campaign cartographer, willing to do play-mat style grid-work (nothing too fancy required) at about the same payment as above, per map.
- A map maker/illustrator willing to do larger, more freehand maps at about 25-100 per shot, depending on the size and intricacy required. CC maps also acceptable here.
- If anyone wants to release clipart through my established channel, they're welcome to, the profit split is about 50/50.
- I'm also willing to take on, produce and publish games that you'd like to and have no time to put out yourself at a similar profit split (after my costs are recouped.

BloodQuest is a 'rules sketch' for Mongoose Publishing's RuneQuest, allowing you to use the RuneQuest rules for a modern, horror setting designed to be semi-compatible with Blood! and allowing you to more easily incorporate Blood!'s upcoming monster products (which will include statistics for Blood! and both leading OGL systems).
This is NOT a complete rules set and you will need RuneQuest in order to use these rules changes. You may also be interested in Blood! for a complete, self-contained horror rules set.
Includes...
- 'Mind Points' for tracking mental stress and loss of sanity.
- 'Fatigue Points' for a less abstract way of tracking exhaustion.
- 'Courage' for resisting horrifying situations.
- Modern 'Basic' and 'Advanced' skills.
- Modern cultural and professional templates.
- Firearms combat, armour and weapons rules.
- Vehicle rules.
"BloodQuest is a great rules supplement for horror-themed campaigns using the RuneQuest rules. New attributes such as Mind Points and Fatigue are easy to insert into existing RQ rules and will be familiar to anyone who has played older incarnations of RuneQuest or Call of Cthulhu. Indeed, I would heartily recommend this product to anyone who wants to use Mongoose's RQ rules for a CoC kind of game. The new professions and modern weapon rules are of particular interest. It's also the only rules supplement I've seen where a character can eliminate Fatigue by eating junkfood! Perfect for us snack-happy gamers who also love thier gore!"

- Almost '30' different profession templates, and rules for your own.

- Fantastic art by Gavin Hargest, Darkzel, Bradley K McDevitt and Paul Campion.
Reviews & Comments
"A very classy rpg, which includes some of the nastiest crits available which can be used in your d20 rpgs. Well worth the price."
"Wow....this is pretty much the first horro-themed RPG I have purchased since Unknown Armies to deserve a spot on my "must play" shelf (next to Kult, CoC, and AFMBE). It's rare that I purchase a game....especially something small press that leaves me thinking, "damn I wish I'd written that." This is one of those books."
